ISRAEL - SPRING 2013
This year on our spring trip to Rome we decided to stay only two weeks and spend two weeks in Israel. We had not been there for three years and many people wanted to know when we were coming back.
We had twelve nights there and on nine we were with friends for dinner. We spent twelve nights and not 14 since we needed to make sure we got back to Rome on time since we had roundtrip tickets from Rome to DC. We rented apartments in both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The apartment in Jerusalem was very nice while the one in Tel Aviv had a great location but came with a killer cat and was not very clean.
This is the main terminal at Ben Gurion airport. It is quite striking especially when you compare it to what it looked like in 1970 when the King made his first trip to Israel.
The lineup at customs at the airport is shown. It is here where you begin to feel the incredible diversity of Israel as you line up with Christian priests in dark robes, Muslim women completely covered up, Orthodox Jewish women all covered up, black Jews, etc.
