LISBON, PORTUGAL
When we were making the reservation to return from Rome to Florida we found that TAP, the airline of Portugal, had the best fare. All the flights had a stop in Portugal and when we went to book it they asked us if we wanted to spend up to 5 nights in Lisbon. Since we had never been to Portugal we decided to make the stopover and selected the 5 day option.
TAP is a budget airline. The seat assignment if you do not pay is random and the King and Queen were separated. If you wanted to change you can but 24 hours before flight and for $$$. Although the tickets called for boarding by assignment that is not what happened at the airport as it was pretty much a free for all. The flight to Lisbon was short and the seats did not recline. Anyone that had cabin luggage, that is carry on, had to wait to board last.
In looking for a hotel we found the Brown's Central Hotel to be very well located and the photos looked very good. It turned out that this was a great selection. The room we were given did have a brown theme that worked.
The view outside our window was of one of the major streets but with the windows closed it was very quiet.
