CILENTO AREA
One week we took off from Rome in a rental car with the bikes to spend one week in a region called Cilento. If you go to Naples and continue along the Amalfi coast and do not stop for another two hours you get to Cilento. It is an undiscovered by tourists place with beautiful beaches, cliffs and very clean water. This is after the season so it was very empty. Italians only go there when it is warm.
We used to enjoy being on the bikes and travelling from city to city. After last year, where we stayed in one place and did daily bike trips, we opted to do the same. We spent 4 nights in Santa Maria di Castellabate and 3 nights in Palinuro - both seaside towns. The biking was a little more difficult than we expected. Our days were limited to short rides since we learned on the first day out just how hilly it was. The views however were pretty spectacular once we got up to whatever town was our destination.
