BOLOGNA
We had some time between when we left Barcelona and when needed to be in Rome to meet Ruth and family. We have never been to Bologna so we decided to go there for three days on our way to Rome.
Hotel
We stayed in a hotel in the center of the city. It was in a very large pedestrian only area.
This is the sceen that greeted us as we left the hotel each day.

Jewish Ghetto
In 1555 the Jewish ghetto was formed. It consisted of 9 entry and exit points. Pope Paul IV proclaimed the Bull Cum Nimis Absurdum which stated that all Jews living under the rule of the church had to live in one part of town separated from the Chistians. In 1569 all Jews had to leave Bologna and other parts of Italy.
These signs indicated where you were within the Jewish ghetto. Noneof the actual 15th century buildings remain... these are just markers for where the buildingss existed.

Random Things
Bologna is a college city. There are several colleges and they all seemed to be having some sort of graduation ceremony while we were there. This young lady had on a wreath with flowers and all the girls did.
