BARCELONA
Our trip to Barcelona was prompted by the news that Hynda's friend and colleague from NIH had breast cancer. She had normal course and is now doing well. The day she found out she had breast cancer was the day her daughter found out she was pregnant. This is a photo of the proud grandmother.
…and the proud grandfather looking into the carriage.
This was the soaps and shampoos at the hotel we stayed at in Barcelona.
On this trip we happened to be Barcelona on Yom Kippur so the King went to synagogue. The four story building on the left is the synagogue with the ever present police protection that they need all over Europe. As I know the routine I brought my passport and was interrogated at the door before I could go in. I was first sent to a service on the first floor. The service turned out to be in Catalan and Hebrew. After short time someone came up to ask me if I was a Sephardic or Ashkenazi Jew. This was the wrong service… the Ashkenazi service was upstairs.
