ROME - FALL 2010
This year's trip to Rome included lots of visitors - some that we had not met before - and a surprsie trip to Sicily.
The photo is of the Trevi fountain, which probably symbolizes Rome more than any other place except for the Coliseum. The aqueduct that fed the fountain was known as having the best water of all the aqueducts and many large palazzos were built around it. The Corsini family built a very large home and it is just behind the fountain. When the fountain was built the Pope who sponsored it just happened to be from the rival Conti family. The architect built it so that the fountain blocked many of the windows of the Corsini home. The four windows on the left side are part of the Corsini palazzo - with the rest being behind the fountain. The fellow in the photo is our friend Ardo who was on the same flight as us.
