We normally book our apartment one year in advance in Rome. This year after we arrived, Stefano, who manages the apartment, appeared on day three to tell us what days the other people who had rented the apartment were coming. We had not remembered that we told him it was OK to rent to the apartment for 5 days during out stay and we would just use that as an excuse to leave Rome for that period.
We thought about going north to some cities we had not visited before but the weather report was for colder weather so we decided to go south and the choice was to return to Sicily for 5 days. We had been to the eastern part of Sicily twice but not to the western part so that is where we decided to go. We made reservations for a plane trip to Palermo, the capital of Sicily. Mimo, the first landlord we had in Rome, was from Sicily and he gave us some recommendations for hotels and cities to visit. The day before we were to leave Stefano called us to tell us that the people had cancelled and we could stay. Since we already had the plane, car and hotel reservations we decided to go anyway.
We decided to visit the following places. Click on the name below to see the photos from these places.
